Vermont Yankee Updates
On January 27, 2006, Vermont Yankee applied to the Nuclear Regulatory Commission for a 20-year extension of its operating license. On March 21, 2011, the application was approved by the Nuclear Regulatory Commission and Vermont Yankee’s operating license was authorized to continue the plant’s operation through March 21, 2032. The Nuclear Regulatory Commission’s action came after a thorough and exhaustive five-year safety and environmental review of the plant.
